Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Detroit
POE Date : 2021-08-21
Got EAD Stamp : Yes,Passport Stamp
Biometrics Taken : No
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : First entry was with US spouse and children (also US citizens) in Detroit. Was taken to a separate room with them, and while waiting we did see some harassment of others who were having green card issues. Our experience was fine and without any issues, however, and we were basically just asked to confirm our address.

Consulate Review: France
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 11, 2021
Embassy Review : My husband had a good experience in Paris in the beginning of March. His interview was at 10:15, and my husband showed up to the Embassy around 9 am. There were five or so people in front of him. A US official called in people who were waiting for notarial or passport services until about 9:30, then visa appointments started being admitted. It was not very crowded at all, and he did say one spouse was asked to wait outside while her husband had his interview (it was unclear if she was American or not, but assuming this is a Covid precaution).

After going through security, my husband first met with a desk official/agent who checked that he had brought the correct documentation for the interview. They did check to make sure he had translations (even though as a citizen of France they were not required to be submitted with the DS260). He was then ushered to another officer, and then finally a third person, the consular officer who conducted the interview.

The Consular Officer asked only three questions - how long have you been married; will you continue to work in your current field when you arrive in the US, and; What does your wife do, how is she sponsoring you. He did not ask to see translations, did not ask for photos, or any other supporting evidence. My husband did ask if there are any Covid exceptions/extensions for the 6 month entry once he receives the visa and the Officer said no.

According to my husband, the Consular Officer was very friendly and said he should receive his visa by the end of the month (his medical exam results - which my husband did the day before- had not been received yet by the Embassy). At the end, he said 'Welcome to the United States'.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
