Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 22, 2018
Embassy Review : Our interview 22nd May, arrived at consular at 6:40, a lot of people outside waiting but a a lot were there for passport and nonimmigrant visa , purple shirt guy called out to get in line for immigrant visa building, they let my American wife inside with me ,then you go through at security check DO NOT take medical cd to interview! Went into different building for the interview, there were multiple employees wearing purple shirts helping arrange documents, waiting in line for token number went to Indian officer she interview me and asked for documents and then returned some documents that was sent into nvc, then 15 mins later my token number came on display screen , there was and interpreter and American officer, the American woman officer greeted me with a big smile and said good morning. Of coarse greeted her back with a huge smile.

CO: telling me I'm an American consult officer and there was a Gujarati interpreter she said I'm going to ask you questions in English then they well translate to you the question in Gujarati.
ME:I told her I know how to speak English I just have hard time with certain words , so I said I would like to answer questions in English with a big smile ,
CO: she started asking questions.
CO : who's calling you?
CO: what's her name ?
CO: how did you meet ?
CO : did this FB friend introduce you ?
ME : I answered NO
CO: the friend your wife relative same sue name
ME: NO not related to my wife
I am not sure why CO didn't understand me she kept telling me to quit lying to her I told her again and again same answer
CO : you have any friends or family in USA ?
CO : again stop lying to me !
ME : I told her I took an oath in front of you swearing to god to speak the truth and I am only speaking the truth to you
CO: then asked about her children there ages , where they live ,
CO: asked about wife's ex husband, why they divorced what happened between them .
CO: what was she doing last time she was in USA
Then she wrote on a blank paper , what was the address you lived at last ten years wrote them all down and all mobile numbers used also , I wrote everything down and returned to her , whole time co officer typing in computer.
Then she left the window 2-3 min later she returned.
CO : do you have pictures together, can I she ,
ME: I gave her all the photos news paper clips from media on our love story
She opened albums and gave me big smile
The said I'm impressed you guys were all over the news , she left desk again with photos and newspaper clips
She came back couple mins later
CO: your wife is here with you call her to counter .
CO only asked my wife one question then my wife just started talked for over five mins
CO : everything looks good but need another sponsor, because he don't meet requirements, my wife explained ss does not have to be reported or claimed on transcripts by federal law , CO said you are right that is my mistake your visa is approved have a safe journey to America your visa should be to you in a few days ! Happy dance !!!!
She was a really good hearted person there job is to make sure it is all good , we saw with our own eyes people lying in there and didn't go good for them , so just speak the truth and your case will go good
Co lady made my wife and my day we are truly thankful for her and the results of the visa !
Was a long journey glad it is over , excited to begin our life's together in America!!! Thank you Mumbai consular office
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
