Consulate Review: Caracas, Venezuela
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 24, 2018
Embassy Review : The embassy in Caracas was amazing! From the moment you enter the embassy until the moment you leave people treat you nicely, the staff there was super helpful. Remember to follow the safety instructions: I noticed a lot of people that didn't and delayed the security checks for the rest, there are some lockers outside where you can leave small personal items like cellphones and wallets (you can pay with a debit card).

The interview process was great. First, you go to a window where they ask for some of your personal documents (birth certificates, criminal records, visa photos, medical results, etc) and take your fingerprints. The gentleman asked some personal questions (this was conducted in Spanish): a brief story on how me and my fiancé met each other, his phone number, how many times we have been together in person and when. Then he proceeded to ask me to take a seat and gave me the IMBRA pamphlet to read while I waited for the other CO to call my name.

After waiting for some time the CO called me to another window, she had our I-129F folder with all of our info. She asked me if it was ok to conduct the interview in English (she was reading our Whatsapp texts and she knew that I'm fluent in English). She then started making questions about how and when we met, how many times we have seen each other in person, when, what does he do for a living, where does he lives, she asked me to describe how a normal day on his life might be, our wedding plans (when do we want our wedding to be, how many guests, where), if my family is coming, she asked me when did my fiancé propose and to describe how he did it, she also asked if we normally argue and if i remember any specific argument (I said yes like normal couples do but TBH I didn't remember anything in particular).
She then said to wait for a moment because she needed to ask one of her colleagues to do something to our folder (removing a big chunk of it because they needed to make it smaller to mail it). When she returned she called me again and informed that our visa was APPROVED and gave me the documents they removed from our original packet. She said that me and my fiancé look very happy together, that our texts and photos were super cute. She then explained that the visa will come via Grupo Zoom and that it could take from 1 to 2 weeks.

Overall the experience was great, the staff and the CO made the entire process super enjoyable and we're super happy to move to the next step of the process!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
