Interview at Mumbai Embassy

Our appointment time was at 7:30 a.m., and we got there about 1hr before that.
Ignore the single, very long line outside the consulate that leads to the left door of the main entrance; that's for non-immigrant visas. After lining up, we showed our passports and the appointment letter and went inside to security. We left our phones and electronics in the hotel so it was just a matter of putting my paperwork and walking through a metal detector and undergoing a patdown search by a female officer for me, male officer for my fiance.

Once inside the complex, we walked by a big outdoors waiting area and went into another building where they process both non-immigrant and immigrant visas. After entering the building, there was a cordon that forced people to move to the right, but that's where the non-immigrant visa processing room is. We told the attendant at the entrance that we were there for an immigrant visa, and she lifted the cordon so we could go to the room for immigrant visas.

There, we were directed to counter No. 1 to get a token the clerk went through the checklist of documents. They took my paystubs, copy of my W-2 and 2017 tax return, copy birth Certificate. He asked if my fiance had copies of his police clearance certificates, which he took as well.

Than we were given token number !Thats the number on token they use to call us for interview .
We waited more than 2 hour to call our number for interview .
after couple of hours, we got called up for interview. the officer was middle-aged american lady. she got grilled for a while (may be 20 or more questions) most of the questions are based on what is available on this site.

Question asked at Interview !
My finace came with me for interview but officer asked her to have a seat and interview me alone

*Who is calling you?
* How did you guys got to know each other?
* Who introduce you to her and how ?
* Where does her parents live currently?
* Where does her family live?
* Where her Father do?
* What her brother do?
* Why do you want to marry her?Why not in india ?
* Who will attend wedding in US ?
* Your family agree with your decision to marry her ?
* Describe your plan for wedding ceremony.
* Where is finished her studies from and what year she graduated from ?
* where are you guys staying now ?why in hotel ?before marriage how your parents allowed you guys to stay in hotel ?
* where does she live ?
* Where she work ?Describe what she does at work ?
* Does she have kids?was she married before ?
* What do you do for living?
* Do you have any family member in US ?Where and what she does ?and how she went to US ?
*What does you sister do in US ?
*Is it love marriage or arrange ?
*Why and how your parents agree to your relationship?

She was repeating same question multiple times to see if i am changing my answer .
She was typing something in the computer while interviewing me ,and once done asking she started telling me my rights in America and how to apply green card ?

And at the end final word with white slip which says YOU ARE APPROVED !

So i asked how long it will take ?do you think i will be able to fly back with my Finace on March 8th she said mostly probably yes !You should have your passport within a week !She wished me good luck and said thank you !

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
