Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 16, 2017
Embassy Review : The Guangzhou Consulate was incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. From handing in our I:130, right up to the interview. They answered all questions we had and provided us with detailed information on what we needed to submit. They were also incredibly quick, turning all of our documents around within a week of them being delivered. If we had been more on the ball, we could have finished the whole process in about a month and a half.

According to my wife, the interviewer she had was also quite nice. He asked her 11 simple questions. The whole thing felt very informal for her and more like a conversation than an interview. She was surprised considering some of the other comments she had read about the interview process.

We were given a green slip due to not having a joint sponsor. My wife was a bit upset about this, but the immigration officer noticed and made sure to calm her down, explaining what it meant in detail and that we wouldn't have to return to the embassy. Once the green slip was delivered to the embassy with the joint sponsorship forms, her visa was issued the next day.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
