Comments : The entire process was convoluted & unclear. The process described on this forum& State Dept website for K1 is inaccurate for CEAC path. Now, our jopurney, the RFE on the I-129 stage was on us, forgot to check a couple of boxes that appeared to be referring to military service & non applicable. That was straight forward. At the NVC / CEAC stage we were told the consulate had accepted our request to expedite. We never requested expedited service but were glad to have it. Turns out it means nothing. The next delay was at the Packet 3 stage, almost 2 months to packet 3. The issue was my fiancee had become a Canadian citizen during this process. We had used a different Canadian Travel document/passport for non immigrants during the I-29 stage. At the NVC stage we used a regular Canadian Passport, the other passport was no longer available on becoming a citizen you surrender it. Anyway, the Consulate now wanted proof of Canadian citizenship, I guess a Canadian PP was not enough. So we mailed in the Certificate of Citizenship. This allowed us to proceed to packet 4. Somewhere on the forum, you are left with the impression that you choose your own interview date. In our experience, you only choose the interview time, all other dates are grayed out. We had 2 early morning slots to choose from. The interview went well, in fact no major issues, no challenges, no close scrutiny of any paper work. Hardly any questions to Fiancee's daughter, we had asked if she could be exempted (apparently minors under 14 can be) but was denied. Anyway, the feeling was we were overly prepared with all sorts of requested documents (packet 3 & 4, financials, proof of relationship etc) for nothing, which is ultimately good. At the end of the interview my fiancee was informed they had been approved but needed to provide, wait for this, documentation on the other Canadian travel document used in the I-129 stage. That's correct :). Luckily some application/ receipt related documents for that passport had been kept. Instructions on how to mail were provided. Mailed out that day per instructions. That put us in Administrative Review. October 5, on status page still AR, Oct 6 still AR, but case created date changed to Oct 6th, from May 25. Didn't know what this date change meant or if it would add time. Today, AR to Issued & emails about returned passports. Other than the convoluted nature of the process, lack of information/ template replies if you use the public inquiry form, no real answers, unclear/ambiguous instructions, the stress, the process was quite an experience that we are glad is over. Please excuse the detail but I hope it helps someone in a similar situation. Thanks.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
