Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 30, 2018
Embassy Review : Showed up 45min early for an 8:45am interview. We didn't need to get there that early and ended up waiting for about an hour as the interviews were running behind schedule. We only needed a few documents which are sorted out before you get to the interview window. There is a computer and printer there if you forget anything, but we didn't have to use it. We were both really nervous before the interview but they only asked us 2 questions, how we met, and if we have spent time together in person. The interviewer didn't look at any documents (photos, tax returns, evidence, etc) and just said that we were approved. We decided to stay in Rio hoping that it would speed up the process, but it still took 9 days (7 business days) before the visa was delivered. The status changed to "Issued" on the 2nd business day after the interview and I guess it was just sitting around waiting to be shipped for a few days? Anyway it all worked out in the end!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
