April 4th 2017 - Medical Examination:
I showed up at 7.25 at Istituto Varelli. I got a ticket to wait in line, letter C for the consulate. When it was my turn a woman at the desk asked for my passport and address in Italy. She then guided me to a corridor and told me to sit on the chair and wait until they called my name. When the nurse called me she took a blood test (I didn't even feel it, and it was my first blood test!) and then gave me a cup, asked me to go to the toilet to urinate in it (syphilis test). After that the same woman who brought me to the corridor, guided me to the x ray section. There they ask you to take off your shirt and bra (if you wear a top without wires in it they let you keep it on) and they take the chest x rays. The same woman will guide you downstairs and this is the longest part, mainly because two old (average age 75) but super nice men are working there. When it's finally your turn they will ask for 4 photographs, your Italian and U.S. address (I suggest to double check everything they type on the computer), your vaccination records. If you're all good and you don't need to take any vaccines they will ask you to pay €220 (cash/credit card). After this you will have to wait for the last medical visit. There they will ask you several questions about your medical history, check your blood pressure, eyesight test. Then they will check your height and weight, they will make you lay on a bed and proceed with the heart auscultation on your chest and then they will make you sit and listen to your back. Boom done with the medical examination (I left the Istituto Varelli at 11.30)
April 5th 2017 - Interview:
My interview was at 9.30am but I showed up at 8.10ish am. You will go through security just like at the airport and leave everything that is electronic. left my bag there and took with me my binder and folders. They will give you a number and a pass that they will attach on your shirt. You need to go to the 2nd floor. If you're Italian, that room looks like a Poste Italiane room haha. A guy sitting at a table will call your number. He will ask for your original civil documents plus copies: DS-260 receipt, 2 photographs, original birth certificate and a copy, original marriage certificate and a copy, original police certificates and copies. He will collect them together and give them to you. Now you will need to sit and wait; a consulate officer will call your number at a desk (glass desk just like poste italiane again). The lady was Italian. She will ask for the documents that I mentioned and give back to you all the copies (all the copies submitted to NVC too) plus the medical examination results that you will need to bring with you in the U.S. . She will take your fingerprints as well. She wrote down my husband's current job and told me to sit and wait for the last and "official" interview. Finally the other consulate officer called my number. I went there, she spoke English but if you want she can speak Italian. I continued speaking in English though. She will make you swear you're telling the the truth and she will take your fingerprints (again) but just 4 fingers of the right hand. She then started asking me questions: Where is your husband? How and when did you meet? When did your husband leave for the U.S.? (He was stationed in Italy for a while-U.S. Army) So she asked me how is that he stayed for so long in Italy so I explained he was in the U.S. Army. When did you go to the U.S and for how long? When is the last time you saw each other? Why did you wait so long to get a Visa? (We gave priority to the University and the U.S. Army) Did you meet his parents? Did he meet yours? What do you plan on doing there? Where would you want to work? I answered all the questions and she said "you're all done and good to go; you will receive your visa in the next days" ðŸ˜
I've never been asked to show the current documents/stuff at the interview:

-Husband's passport copy
-IV fee and AOS fee payment receipt
-DHL courier payment receipt
-Evidence of relationship
I stayed at La Dimora di Nettuno, about 500meters from the consulate, very nice, cozy and affordable place.
