Consulate Review: Cambodia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 5, 2017
Embassy Review : Interview was about 3 months ago so ill do my best

We arrived early and was told not to line up yet and to come back 15min before our appt. Once we passed security we went to various windows and waited. We provided our documentation to the first window then waited to be called to another where electronic fingerprints were taken. Once fingerprints were complete we waited for the actual interview. My fiancee was called to the window and asked generic questions that can be found in several threads. I was then called up and asked the same questions. The interviewer poked a bit when we answered differently to what we had for dinner the night before. I had to explain that her family prepared a dinner for us but that I also picked up dinner back at the hotel. I wasnt hungry at the time they prepared dinner it was hot and early (4pm). Around 7pm back at the hotel I ordered another meal which i considered my dinner. Once he was satisfied with the questioning he told us to come back about 8 days later to pick up the visa. The whole process took 3.5 hours.
Many passed their interviews but some did fail. Everyone I saw that was attended by both passed. Those that interviewed alone and failed weren't able to answer some of the simplest questions. One woman was on her 3rd interview attempt and we believe she failed. She said her fiance had children but didnt know how many, age or their names. They told her to wait as we were leaving so I dont know of the outcome.
I was nervous going into the interview after reading the outcomes and not having time to review. The interview date was changed more than once after I landed in cambodia and we had 12 hours notice to get to PP from battambang for the interview. So it was a rush to get prepared and make the 6-7 hours car ride to PP. The process took about 3.5 hours and was not as difficult/stressful as I thought it would be. Be prepared for a long morning, grab a good breakfast and coffee before you attend the interview.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
