Embassy Review : Hi everyone! So great news, yesterday had my interview and it went great! Which means I got approved hehe and thought i would share my experience of how it all went hoping it would help some of you future applicants to have an idea on how it all works and really, just not stress about it!
So i had my interview scheduled at 1 PM and got there half an hour early just to be sure. At 5 minutes before 1 PM, the guard officer came outside with the list of names and asked for my passport and then checked the list then told me to head to the entrance. I got there and another officer came outside and checked all of our belongings, bags backpacks. So now, HERE...all of you that are going to the Embassy with bags remember that they won't let you in with them! I didn't know that and had to go back to the Mall, a 15 minutes walk to leave it at a supermarket, so that was a bit frustrating. After that, I came back and went in, i handed my phone and all i had with me, went through the screening then I was officially in the Embassy. Then you have to enter through a big and heavy metal door where a guard will ask you to wait. There will be a long hallway where on the right there's the waiting area with chairs and on the left the interview area. You sit and wait at the waiting area until the Romanian consul will say your name and ask you to approach one of the windows and give her all of your documents (Birth certificate copy + original, 2 photographs, police clearance, Affidavit of support (They accept joint sponsorship's!) with tax returns, bank account statements, TNT confirmation and visa application fee). Here, he/she will also take your fingerprints. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR DOCUMENTS! Double check everything! After I was done with that, I waited again for about 30 minutes before the American consul called my name and headed over to the interview window. The consul was super nice and friendly even though i was a bit stressed because our case was pretty uncommon, applying as a gay couple. Basic questions were "How did you meet?" "When did he visit?" "Where does he work?" "Where will you marry?". After about 5 minutes I'd say, all he said was "Well, it's pretty straight forward, so you're visa is approved!". I asked him if I have to wait for any papers but he said no, everything is good and they will deliver my passport with the visa in about 2 days. And that was it!
Some tips for all of you applying for a visa and about to have your interview: - make sure you have all of your documents, original and copy especially of your birth certificate ( a lady's application was denied because she didn't have her birth certificate in original);
- double check everything;
- don't hesitate to call the Embassy and ask for advice when you feel lost;
- make a doctors appointment well before your interview, i had mine done a month prior to the interview and luckily you have the option to keep the results at the clinic till the day of the interview ( I had mine done at Regina Maria Baneasa clinic);
- try not to stress and stay confident! That will mean a lot at the interview!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
