Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 6, 2017
Embassy Review : Id like to share to everyone my experience during the interview process
i was scheduled April 4, 2017 at 10:10am
9:20am- I arrived at the embassy and went to the first entrance outside by the guard and was directed to go to the lady in lane 3 for immigrant visas. she just asked for my ds 260 confirmation paper put a sticker with barcode.

9:25am- i went inside where they search your belongings for any electronic devices thru xray which also includes usb. i sat outside for a good 5 minutes where there were chairs thinking maybe there was a line since most people are seated near the kodak kiosk where immigrant visa applicants are usually seated. finally decided to ask the lady where the line is or should i go inside and viola i should have went inside directly since there was no line at all.

9:30am- another guard inside will againnnnn check your bags. and then from the barcode sticker in my ds 260 it was starting with A (there was 3 sections A, B, and C) so i stood in the line from windows 30 something to 42 which is the prescreening windows.

9:40am- my turn. i was interviewed by a filipino (male). he asked for the original Birth certificate, marriage certificate and nbi clearance (as well as police clearance from abroad since i lived there for 5 years). he asked for basic questions like when is the marriage, if me and my husband were previously married, if we have a child etc, then he asked for photos, i gave him an envelope with our photos (im too lazy to make a collage since we already sent one when we applied with our i-130 and its too bulky). afterwards, he returned the photos telling me to give it to the american consul if he asks for it then he directed me to window 43 for fingerprint scanning.

9:50am- there was a queue for the final interview....and it was quite long like 50 something people before me (we were all seated in the chair and was moving once a window is free and the next person goes for the interview). so i dreaded the inevitable.i was playing sudoko ( i brought a sudoko book just to keep me occupied and less nervous).

10:50am- finally its my turn, I'm at the end of the line of chairs i thought oh finally but then the lady (filipino) told me to go sit on the chair just in front windows 66 &67 and wait which one finishes first.
11:00am- i went to window 66 and gave my ds 260 paper with the barcode sticker (while waiting in queue for the interview the lady assisting will instruct you that the american consul will need only that paper when its your turn). so here goes;
1) oath taking (that you are telling the truth and that the documents you submitted are true and etc)
2) finger print scanning again
3) the american consul (male) told me to wait a bit because he's gonna take my file
4) he was scanning all the documents we submitted
5) Q&A:
When did you get married? Answers December *******
When did you meet? (I actually answered how we met then when we met without giving any specific date then lastly when we started the relationship)
Was i previosuly married? NO
Was my husband previously married? NO
Do we have a child together? YES
Is he/she already have a US passport? YES
Where is he/she now? OUTSIDE (he laughed at my answer and i was shocked i didnt mean it like that so immediately i said im sorry i mean she is here in the philippines)
Is she your first child? YES
What is your husband's work? REGISTERED NURSE
What is your work? ALSO A NURSE (He smiled and said sometimes it runs in the family)

then he told me ok so your visa is approved etc etc and i can have it in 10 days. he gave me a white small paper detailing the delivery address of the passport even if i already did so before the interview.

11:10am- I am out of the building..yey!

PS= make sure in your NBI clearance all your names are written like maiden name (the one you used when you were single), Married name (if you are married), previously married name (if you were divorced you should also put the name you used from your previous marriage). otherwise they will not accept that and you will be put to administrative processing until you submit the NBI clearnce with all the names.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
