Consulate Review: Nigeria
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : Arrived at the Embassy at 6.15am. I know, I was late cos my uber driver lost his way. There were up to 300 people. I almost lost hope but I was relieved when the security guys called the immigrant visa applicants with 6.30am interview first. I was the 4th person on the queue. One of the security guys asked us to ready the international passport, DS-160 confirmation page, appointment confirmation letter and the medical report. We were shortly ushered into another holding area. There were checks after checks until we got to the interview room.

There were so many people there too. It looked like a busy banking hall. I was given a number after submitting the necessary documents to an African lady. Few moments later, my number was up. I was interviewed by a blonde lady. I did the oath and the fingerprint stuff. She proceeded with the interview with the following questions:

Where and when did you meet?
When was the last time you met?
When did you propose?
Who did the proposal?

And she gave me 3 white sheets, one instructing me to pick up the visa in 10 working days and the white sheet explaining the immigrant visa fee plus one waiver form. I was surprised she didn't even bother to look at the additional evidence I brought with me. She did not even ask me for the supplementary letter of intent I brought to the interview. She returned some of the documents we sent with the I-129f. It was over too quickly and I put it down to the frontloading we did when we sent in the I-129f. It was the easiest oral interview I have ever had. I was out of the building by 7.55am. Just be calm, look confident and answer the questions clearly and concisely.

Ok that’s a good thing I guess I should be waiting for a notice and hopefully it’s a general thing

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
