Event Date
Port of Entry : Chicago
POE Date : 2016-09-24
Got EAD Stamp : Yes,Passport Stamp
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : The officer was kind but tired. I arrived in the very early morning hours and I bet he worked all night. He seemed nice and professional but busy. I arrived on a big transcontinental airplane at the same time many others were already there. Overall the officer was really nice and just put a stamp on my passport after his standard questions.

Comments : The officer was very kind and professional. He greeted me and my wife and our baby in to his office. The questions were pretty standardized and was nothing out of the ordinary. I had my medical re-done in US a few days prior this interview and the officer told me it was not necessary because my overseas doctor's medical exam was less than a year old. But we thought better safe than sorry in this case. I found that medical examination requirement a little bit confusing. The Sacramento office looks nice and is very easy to find. There are parking spots even across the street by the US Bank tower area for those who try to find somewhere to take their car.
Now, me and my family are so happy to be together!

Consulate Review: Sweden
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 6, 2016
Embassy Review : I went to Stockholm Embassy the 8th of September 2016. Before you enter the embassy make sure you stand in the right queue/line. They have two of them. One is covered by a roof-corridor like a bus stop, the other one got a sign. For K1-visa you should stand next by the sign, next by the one not covered by the roof. It was pointed out later by the guard once he called me to step forward and knew what I was there for. The guards did an airport-like control and had to me check in my cell phone and keys in a lockbox. In return I received a ticket so that I could retrieve back my belongings once I was done with my interview.
I followed a white line on the ground from the guards house to the waiting room inside the embassy. Once there the waiting time was around 30 minutes. People arrived at the embassy for different reasons, some were there for K1-visa, others were importing cars from US, a girl I spoke to lost her VISA and was there to get another one, etc.

When it was my turn I turned in all my documents, copies and my Swedish passport that were asked in the instructions through e-mail to a Swedish speaking lady. But somehow I missed to bring my fiance's certified copy of her divorce decree since I misread the instructions (thought they were asking for my divorce decree, but I was never married before).

Once my interview took place with an American speaking gentleman he informed me that they couldn't issue my visa because I missed out bringing my fiance's divorce decree paper. I called my fiance the same day and asked her to visit the court house to send me a certified copy through DHL. It took her just an hour then she sent it to me. My entire visa process at this stage was delayer by 2 weeks only. The embassy was really fast to issue my visa and it came through a "rekommenderat" letter that I needed to bring out personally from the post office agent. It was a package of two thick envelopes and my passport that included an extra page glued inside which is the visa.

My overall experience with the embassy and homeland security at the point of entry in US was really great. Everyone is very professional and fast at their work. There is nothing but kindness and they are very informative to you.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
