Embassy Review : I decided to visit my fiancee to attend the interview with her. We arrived about 1 hour early. A lady outside gave us directions on where to stand. I am not sure if she was employed by the embassy or just selling pens. Our appointment was at 8:15 so we stood in the line behind the sign marked "8:15 Immigrant Visa Appointment". I read that backpacks and bags were not allowed, so we hand carried our paperwork, but I saw at least one backpack and some large purses. I think they are not too strict on this rule, but the guard does check bags before entry.

They did not check my ID or my passport to accompany my fiancee inside.

When our line was called, we proceeded forward to a tent outside where the appointment confirmation was checked and the passports were bagged and tagged. Inside, there was a security check. They had a vendor inside selling water and snacks. They allowed water inside, but not food. There is also a photo booth available for taking passport pictures if necessary.

Inside we had a few different windows to visit. I think it depends on the individual situation how many are necessary to visit. First was biometrics. I don't recall the purpose of each window. One was for oath taking. Another took the passports and asked some questions. I believe the interview was step 4. I tried to allow my fiancee to answer the questions, but I did need to help her with a couple. After less than 5 minutes of questions, he told us that the visa is approved and that we could leave! He gave us the IMBRA pamphlet and a notice to sign up on ustraveldocs for document delivery. This step was already completed when we made the interview appointment. He said that we could proceed to step 5 if we had any further questions. We decided to ask about the CFO Seminar requirement. They had very little information about this at the embassy and told us to await instructions when we receive the visa.

My fiancee plans to attend the CFO Seminar in Cebu after receiving her visa. Some other notes: They did not ask for my Affidavit of Support or any of the documents I prepared regarding my financial situation. They did not ask for any further evidence of our proof of an ongoing relationship. We did bring my fiancee's daughter because we were unsure if she would be required to attend. They did ask to see her and verify her identity from her passport. She is under 2 and was not required to perform biometrics or the oath taking. We both wore nice clothes, but nothing too formal. Once we were inside, I think the entire process took less than an hour. Some people were sitting down and waiting. We were ushered through the lines very quickly.

I was only in the Philippines for 2 full days, but I do not regret my decision to be a part of this process. My fiancee completed hers and her daughters medical exam in one day. So, Medical on Monday and Interview on Thursday. Hopefully this information is helpful to someone. I have received so much good information from this site. Just trying to pay it back a little.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
