Consulate Review: Islamabad, Pakistan
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 21, 2015
Embassy Review : Hey guys,

Here is my interview experience.

My interview was on Dec 16th, 2015. My wife (petitioner) was with me on the interview day. We reached the visa shuttle at around 5.45am and the staff told us that the gates will open at 6.15am. So we had to wait in the car as it was freezing cold outside. There were around 5-6 people waiting outside before we reached; however by 6.15am approximately 25-30 people were already there. At 6.15am the gates were opened and we got into queues where tickets are issued. There are separate counters for different countries. The counters opened at 7am and we bought two tickets (each ticket was PKR 200/-). Once you get the ticket you have to deposit cell phones on the very last counter on your left. After the security check we boarded the first bus to the embassy. Its a good 10-15 min ride and once you reach the embassy there are a few security checks. Once you enter, the first thing is token number issued. After that we have to wait for our turn to be called. Firstly I was called and asked for two passport sized photographs and bio-metrics fingerprints taken. I was given a pamphlet on domestic violence and list of courier offices in different cities from where the passport will be collected which its ready for pickup. Then after 5-10 minutes later I was called on another window to submit sealed medical envelope and select the language for interview which was of course English in my case. I was also asked to provide city and contact number for the courier service. After another 15 minutes I was called on a different window where an American CO greeted me 'Good Morning' and started the interview:

CO: Asked me to take Oath to speak truth which I did.

CO: How did you both met? Was it arranged marriage or love marriage?
Me: I answered.

CO: What was the marriage date?
Me: I answered.

CO: What countries have you visited?
Me: I answered. (In my case I visited for vacations and studies)

CO: What does your wife do?
Me: I answered.

CO: What is your wife's address in USA?
Me: I answered.

CO: Where is your wife living currently?
Me: She is living with me in Paksitan.

CO: Where is your wife now?
Me: I answered she was here in the waiting hall.

CO: Asked me to call her too.
Me: I called me wife.

CO: Asked my wife about our marriage date.
Me: She answered.

CO: Again asked me countries I visited.
Me: I answered; and he asked where we went for our honeymoon.

CO: Asked if I have any of my family in USA.
Me: We answered.

He passed us our original documents and then came the magical words "I am approving your visa, you should get your passport in 10 days". Wowwww that was an amazing feeling and we were so happy and excited. We thanked him and then came back to the shuttle bus to return home.

TIPS: Guys stay confident, always be honest, speak the truth.

We took loads of wedding pics, honeymoon pics, casual pics, and pile of other documents (like hotel bookings receipts, etc when we traveled together) but he didn't ask for any. It was obvious seeing such a huge pile.

It was a very good experience, the staff, the CO and everyone talked very friendly. It took us a total of 45-60 minutes inside the embassy for the whole process and we were out at around 8.30am.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
