Comments : POE was in Houston around 7pm. My husband and I had to go through the visitor line and there weren't that many people there so it took us about 15-20 minutes to get to boarder control. I handed over my envelope and the man welcomed me to my new country and was making jokes telling me you will get arrested. Mmm not my kind of humor but I smiled. He set my passport and envelope aside and told me to stand by a sign and wait for someone to pick me up and I would be interviewed. After a few minutes a man came and led me to a room with 20+ people waiting. My husband wasn't allowed to join me and cell phones had to be turned off. I waited about 30-45 minutes and my name was called. I walked up to a man who asked me how we met, and we talked a little about Houston and I was handed my passport and given information about the green card. I was told it would take 6-12 months to get my green card. And that was it :)

Embassy Review : My appointment was 4/25/2016 at 8:30am. I arrived to the embassy at 7:50. I had to stand in the immigrant visa line, that is next to the non-immigrant visa glass booth. I was called to the security controll and I had to show my passport through the window, take off my jacket, turn around and show them the undersides of my shoes. I didn't have anything with me besides all the required paperwork. I was asked to step inside and I had to put my stuff in a box so it could be x-rayed and I had to step through a metal detector, just like at the airport. I was told to take my things, follow the yellow line and go to desk 7.

There were only two people infront of me but I wasn't asked to hand over my papers until after 10. I talked to a really friendly lady that had a Finnish accent. I was asked to sit down and wait for my name to be called for my interview. I sat down maybe 5-10 minutes tops and then my name was called and I got to speak to another friendly woman. I saw that she had my papers infront of her and it had an APPROVED stamp on it but I tried to ignore it. She asked if I swear to tell the truth and so on... I had to leave my fingerprints and then the questions she asked were: Who in the US is petitioning for me? I said my husband XX but he is living with me here in Sweden. She appologized for pronouncing my last name wrong, but I said no worries, nobody knows how to say it She then asked Where did we meet? When did we start dating? When did my husband move to Sweden? What does he do for a living? What are my likes about my husband? After answering everything she said "You are my last immigrant visa today and your case was the easiest one so Thank you! I have everything I need and your visa will be issued withing 10 business days. It usually takes less time than that but count on ten days." I walked out with a huge smile on my face and my worried husband was waiting for me outside of the gates. I first tried to trick him that we didn't get approved but I just couldn't hide my huge grin :D
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
