Consulate Review: Tokyo, Japan
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 7, 2016
Embassy Review : My interview was at 9:15, I arrived at around 8:30 hoping to get through the process quickly. The steps were basically the same as everyone else described: handing in documents, fingerprints then actual interview. The waiting time for the entire process was around 3 hours but they didn't seen to go in order so someone who arrived after you may finish before you. Carry a book to pass the time. Outside food and drink aren't allowed but there is a drink vending machine in the waiting room.

My interview lasted about 5 minutes. The officer was pretty friendly and asked simple questions. Some of the questions asked were:
- When did your fiancé propose?
- How did he propose?
- When did you first meet?
- Where was your first date?
- What are his hobbies

He didn't ask for any pictures or messages. After the questions he said "Congratulations you should receive your passport with the visa in a week". Very smooth and easy.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
