Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 28, 2015
Embassy Review : My wife was only in the consulate for about an hour. The interviewer was the Vice Consul, a very nice, respectful man. He asked my wife questions about my children's names, my ex-wife's name, and my mother's name. He examined the photos we brought and asked a few questions about people that were in them. At that point, he smiled and welcomed her to the US. Alternatively, there were two women interviewers on either side of this gentleman, who were angry, rude, and disrespectful to the applicants. According to my wife, they denied each and every applicant that faced them while my wife was waiting for her interview. I'd say that we got lucky, even though we were heavily prepared.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Chicago
Event Description
Entry Date : 2016-01-26
Embassy Review : My wife and stepson flew back to the US with me from Hong Hong to O'Hare. We arrived at just about noon, and the whole process of getting through Immigration and Customs took about 2 hours. There was no harassment. The Customs official was pleasant, although he was inexperienced and had to ask for help from others on a number of items. After fingerprinting my wife and stepson, we were sent to get our luggage, and diverted off to a separate area where we handed in the visa packages, and waited for about a half hour. They called me up to the desk once to verify my address where the green cards would be sent, and then handed back the passports, and we went on to our transfer flight from there. All in all, painless, except for the waiting. It had been a long flight from Hong Kong, and we were all pretty much beat. No questions, no hassles...this might have been because I was with them...who knows? In any case, we were thankful to get over this hump with no issues.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
