Local US CIS Office Review: Philadelphia PA
Review Topic: cis_topic
Event Description
Review Date : October 18, 2018
Embassy Review : Getting to the address, finding parking and getting into the building was all very easy. We were sitting in the waiting room 20 minutes before our appointment. Interview was scheduled for 11:35 and we were called around ten minutes after that. Officer was polite, though not very talkative. She swore us in, reviewed our original birth certificates, marriage licence, and passport. She spent some time reviewing my application, silently. She asked us for evidence that the relationship was still bona fide. We submitted joint tax return, documents that show shared address, shared health insurance, telephone bill, etc. (These were all new documents that we had since we submitted the application, so make sure you bring those). She spent quite a bit of time looking at my passport and the application. She didn't say anything. I was sooooo nervous! Then, she asked me the Yes/no questions that appear on the I-485 form about previous crimes, convictions, etc. Then said she would need to review the case and make a decision within 30 days. We were not asked any questions, really. The interview lasted 30 minutes. We were disappointed that we were not approved on the spot, and that we didn't get any hints as to whether the case was going well or not. The next day, we received an email update that the case was approved and the card was ordered!!! So I guess the officer just needed a few hours to look at the case more carefully. Sometimes they don't have time to look at your file before the interview, and they do it during and after the interview, so don't panic if you are not approved on the spot!
Harassment Level : Good

Hello, your n400 timeline looks similar to mine. However, i did not receive an update on my account. I am still waiting for the ceremony. Do you happen to have new information regarding this??were any ceremonies held lately??

Hello. I guess that it took longer than usual to schedule my ceremony, but I think it depends on where you live. Based on other timelines and people I know, it seems like for western Michigan, where I am, it takes a couple of months after the interview. If you don't mind me asking, where are you located? I applied online and have an online account. Last week I got an email alert that an action had been taken. I went into my account and it said that the ceremony was scheduled. Later that day I was able to see the letter online, and it came in the mail three days later.

Michigan as well. In Flushing, MI. I thought it will be faster than this cause my parents and brother and his wife all were done very fast. My mother and brother were handed the appointment for the oath ceremony after the interview. I hope mine will get here soon

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
