Consulate Review: Naples, Italy
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 28, 2015
Embassy Review : Medical visit: We wanted to be one of the first ones so we went there at around 6:30, we were second in line. We waited until the medical center opened at 7:00. Once we went in there are some ticket machines we pressed the C (consulate) button and we got a ticket C2 (which meant we were the second ones) in less than 10mn our number was called we went to the window and only turned in my passport, after that we were directed to wait for the blood test, we waited for about 15mn and we were called for the blood test then they took me to another side of the building where i waited to be called , once i was called there was a man advanced in age very polite, who asked me about my Italian address, U.S address and email, I gave him 4 passport size pictures and also told him i didn't have any immunization record and he told me that its was ok that they would provide two shots that were needed for an additional cost, at the end I had to pay 230euros (170 xray, 60 for 2 shots) After that i waited about 10mn to be called for the chest xray ,once i was done with that. I went back to the other side of the building and waited 20mn to be taken downstairs for a general visit (height, weight, eye sight, chest) where they also gave me the two shots that I needed. At the end they told me that the next day at the Consulate i was going to receive an envelope containing my xray chest CD and immunization records. It all took about 2 hours but they were all organized and polite.

Interview: We had our appointment at 9:30 but we were there ahead of time at 8:30. The security guards were really nice and allowed us in. I was able to go in with my handbag containing all the documents. We only had to leave our cellphones and they gave us a number that they were going to use to call us later. Once we passed security we went to a separate building to the second floor and waited for about 15mn until our number was called. I was asked to give my passport, original documents and thats it , the lady said we were going to be called again for the interview. 15mn later we were called to another window where the interview was conducted. The consular was very nice and laid back, she greeted us very politely and told us we looked like we were in love. I had to take the oath then she proceeded with a couple of questions such as how did we meet? when did we decide to get married? how many times has he been here? where else have we travelled together? if we get along with our families? who attended the wedding? how old I was and how old is my husband?it seemed more like a chat, my husband was also answering some questions and she asked him where he worked? then when asked where we have travelled, we mentioned all the countries we've been to and she commented "you guys are relationship goals" as to what my husband replied "hashtag relationship goals" lol she started laughing , just to give you an idea of how laid back it was. She immediately said that my passport would be delivered within 7 days with the visa and she wished us good luck. The consular officer was sooooo nice and smiley all the time, I had prepared lots of pictures, boarding passes, letters, etc none of it were asked for which surprised me but I believe they just know when the marriage is genuine.

I hope this review helps anyone
Trust me the easiest part is the interview
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
