Comments : We passed through together. Because my husband was traveling with me, his USC wife, we were directed to wait in the USC side. We waited for just over an HOUR to get to one of the only SIX windows that were open. While waiting in line at we saw that one of the officers asked everyone a ton of questions and was hostile toward many of the travlers. We chose not to go to her line. When we got to the front, of our line the officer told us that his fingerprint machine is broken and sent us TO THAT WOMAN WE DIDN'T WANT. I am the USC and she asked me about every previous stamp in my passport and asked questions about our relationship, and if I intentionally sought out middle eastern men, how I met my husband, WHY I had previously traveled to other MENA countries, she asked me three times what I did for a living. I Don't know if she would have been like this if I had not been entering with my husband or not, but I've NEVER been questioned like that before even when returning from other MENA countries like Lebanon and Pakistan!!! After several minutes of questioning and only ONE question asked to my husband, she sent us to secondary processing. Secondary processing had a 45 minute wait but the officer there was very friendly and the other officers were joking with people and trying to make them feel relaxed. once it was our turn, it took only five minutes with ZERO harassment, just a few questions. We had a three and a half hour conneection time for our flight and we had to RUN to get our bags checked in and then to our gate because our departure was in a different terminal 3.5 HOURS is NOT long enough despite the fact that we got waived right through the long line at customs.

Comments : Applied for citizenship before approval. Cases combined. At citizenship interview we were told the cases are combined but the officer did not have access to the ROC case update capabilities so she couldnt change it to approved status...and because she couldnt update the ROC, she couldnt put the N400 in approved status either. She told us approvef but that we needed to wait up to two weeks for the systm to show it...but likely would be a few days. It only took a day.

Consulate Review: Tunisia
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 15, 2015
Embassy Review : On 1/5/2014 I sent an email to the embassy because our status was still "InTransit" Nobody responded to our email. We arrived for our interview on 1/8/2014. We were denied entry into the embassy due to the embassy guards being on strike. We were told to come back the next day at 9AM and we would be given our appointment then. I called the embassy that afternoon to confirm that we would be given our appointment on the next day and also to verify that our case had been received and I told the person again that our case was still "in transit" I was told that I was wasting time by calling because if I have an appointment that means that they are ready for the interview and that calling to confirm was unnecessary.

On 1/9/2014 we arrived for my husband's interview and we waited from 8:30 until after noon. When there were only 3 people left in the whole room they finally called us to the window. The officer told us that the NVC hadn't sent our case yet and they would contact us when they had the case for interview. I told him that that was NOT true and that I had already tracked the package with DHL and it was signed for by the Tunisian Embassy. I refused to leave without an answer. The officer at the window then got the Consul General for us to speak to. We explained to the Consul general that they DID receive the package. She gave us her direct number and email and told us that she'd contact us by Monday to let us know what was happening with locating our case. They found the case and notified us with a new appointment for 1/15/2014

For our appointment on 1/15 we arrived at 8:30 for our 9AM appointment. The guard outside told my husband that my name wasn't on the list and wasn't allowed inside for the interview. We told him that this was not true and that I was allowed inside. We argued with him and he finally allowed me in. When we got to the waiting room we waited for about an hour before my husband's name was called. We went up to the window and had his interview with a young girl in her 20's. She asked my husband the following questions:
Why were you in the US before?
Why were you out of status in the USA?
What were you doing in the USA?
Do you have your old passport that shows your reentry into Tunisia after you left the USA?
How did you meet your wife?
What was the name of the online website you met?
Were you looking for an American woman specifically?
When did you first meet her?
Who is "cosponsor name"?
Will you work when you get to the USA?

She aslso asked me, the USC petitioner the following questions:

When were you married to your ex husband?
Why were you remarried so soon after your divorce from your exhusband?
How did you come to meet your husband on this website?
Were you looking for a Tunisian man specifically?
You have not been working recently, How have you been supporting yourself?
Where will you live when you return to the USA with your husband?

After we answered all the questions she told us the visa is approved and we can return on Wednesday to pick up his passport and visa. She didn't ask for any additional proof of relationship photos or documents.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
