Consulate Review: Moscow, Russia
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 1, 2015
Embassy Review : I had my interview today (Dec.01). It was scheduled at 8 am. I arrived to the Embassy at about 7:30 and there was a long line already (about 30 people). A guard took our passports in 15 minutes, checked them and gave them back. Then all the line was moving fast entering the Embassy. Immigrant visa applicants were asked to follow the guard and we went to the 2nd floor. Then an officer asked everyone for their documents (originals and delivery confirmation page).
I was asked to go to the window 24 for the interview. A consular officer (young blond girl) was very nice and friendly. She didn't ask me about the language that I prefered to use and started talking in Russian. So, I just started responding her questions. The questions were very common: Where and when we met? Have you/your husband been in the US and how many times? Does he have children? How old they are? What do you do for living? What does your husband do for living? Does he speak Russian? And that's it.
Then she said that my visa was approved and I will get my passport in about 1 week.
She never asked me about any confirmation of our relationship. I had a huge folder with photos, tickets, Facebook and Skype chats and other stuff.
We even spoke a bit in English after the formal interview. She was a little bit confused reading some information in Russian during the interview. And I just wanted to make a compliment that her Russian language was very good. Because I know how hard is our language for foreigners.
So, I left the Embassy at 10 am. Everything took 2 hours taking into account that I was #4 in the line for the interview.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: JFK
Event Description
Entry Date : 2015-12-14
Embassy Review : My experience with the POE in JFK was excellent.
I arrived to JFK at 1 pm. I went to the Visitors area. We were lucky because it was completely empty. I gave my passport and a yellow package to the CBP officer. He asked me: Have I ever visited the US? I said yes. Then he had some troubles with his computer and went to another officer with my passport to get some info and came back. He appologized that I had to wait. Then started putting information from my resume page (on the yellow envelope) in their database. In couple minutes he appologized again saying that he had an "old school computer" and it took him about 5 minutes to put everything together. After that he asked me about my address for a green card mailing. I gave him an AR-11 form (change of address) that I prepared because my husband moved to a different apartment complex at that time. He stamped my passport next to the Immigrant visa with an oval stamp and wrote CR-1 inside and my Alien number lower. Then he said I'm good to go. I asked him about my picture and fingerprints but he said that he couldn't do it because of his computer's problems. And that was it. No back room inspection. So, I took my luggage and went thru customs. I had my last flight in 4 hours.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
