Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 25, 2020
Embassy Review : Got there, was admitted, went upstairs to fill some papers, then was called to have my documents checked, received a paper for the payment. Went downstairs to pay for it (I paid it in R$ but it could be in $), came back, handed the receipt to the very nice guy who was helping everybody there, then some minutes later I was called by my name to a little room.
The interview was really nice, even though I was very nervous. The interviewer was polite and didn`t make a lot of questions (just basic stuff like "where did you meet your fiance?", "how long have you been together?") and didn`t request any documents or pictures. Just in case, I put my folder full of things in front of him and made sure he saw my engagement ring (like I said "just in case").
We spoke in Portuguese the entire time, even though he asked me if I spoke English and I said yes.
Then he said: "congratulations, your visa was approved!". He was so nice he even smiled saying that
Between the time I got there and the end of my interview, I would say it took about 2 hours.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
