Comments : In total, it took us close to 21 months. During this time, the I-130 approval probably took the longest. I was living in Singapore at the time of case transfer to NVC, so we listed the consulate at Singapore in our case. However, I had to shift back to India halfway after our NVC submission. For this, we had to change the consulate to New Delhi. This process changed our NVC case number, shifting it lower in the queue. My case was completed at NVC almost together with the change in consulate, however the interview date came 2 months after case complete! During these 2 months, my husband contacted the Congresswoman in Palo Alto. We don't know how much that helped, but it is always worth a try. My Interview was alright, just general questions about how we met, our marriage etc. I was not asked for any photos of me and my husband. However, because of my career in biomedical science, I was asked questions about it and was asked to submit my CV, list of publications, and all my travel details by email. 3 weeks after submission, my husband followed up our case with the Congresswoman's office. They wrote to the consulate asking for an update. In total, 5 weeks after submitting these documents, we were approved. I submitted my passport (old and new) at VFS, New Delhi and got it stamped with me my post 4 days later. I flew out the following week to SF with my sealed envelope. It was a breeze at the POE.

Event Description
Review Date : December 9, 2014
Embassy Review : The interview was okay. I was asked to take the oath, fingerprints. General questions about how me and my husband met, how many people were present at our wedding, why did we have such a small wedding. I answered, we had 2 big receptions. Then I was asked about my biomedical career in SIngapore - my exact area of work.

After that, the officer said 'everything looks good, I just need a few things like your resume and travel details for the last 10 years to be sent on email'. I was issued a letter, which looked like a 221G, but didn't say that anywhere. It asked for my professional details, and my travel details. It also asked for the 'purpose of my US visit' - here I front loaded my response with details of our marriage, our photos with our families, our frequent travel visits to see each other.

After 5 weeks of administrative processing after the interview, we finally got a letter by post, asking me to submit my passport at VFS. I got back my stamped passport and sealed envelope 4 days after submission. I flew out 3 days later!
