Embassy Review : Had my interview yesterday in Montreal and thought I'd share my experience...this is going to be a long post.....

Following all the pointers and information here on VisaJourney, I lined up outside at 6:45 am. There were already a couple of people in front of me and they were also VisaJourney members, so we chatted to pass the time.

A couple of guards came out just before 7:30 and roped off the sidewalk to keep everyone in line and allow pedestrians to pass by.

Promptly at 7:30 am a guard came out asking what time our appointments were and she sent everyone away whose appointment time wasn't right away. The couple in front of me had an 8:30 am interview and she told them to come back at 8:15. My interview was at 10:00 am and I was told to come back after 9:30 am.

I came back at 9:30 and the guard asked me if I was registered with Loomis then gave me a number with instructions on which documents to have ready and told me to go in. Sailed through security as I didn't bring anything but my documents. They told me to go down the stairs and take the elevator directly to the 19th floor.(no line ups and only 3 of us in the elevator) When I got to the 19th floor, the room was quite full and sectioned into 3 areas to sit. One for non-immigrants, students, etc. one section for immigration visas, and I didn't catch the sign for the 3rd area. There was no one there to greet me, so I just sat in the immigrant visa section. I waited until 10:55 am to be called up by the number the guard had given to me...to the first window.

The lady asked for my passport, passport photos, medical report, my birth certificate, our marriage licence and my police certificate. I offered to give her the copies I had as well and she said no, she didn't need the copies, just the originals. Then she asked for the I-864 and 2014 taxes. Then I did the electronic finger printing. She asked for my husband's divorce documents and I didn't have them as my interview letter from NVC had coded it "F" which translated to "The NVC did not request this form or document." She gave me the paper on domestic violence and told me to have a seat and wait to be called. (this step took about 5 minutes)

I waited until approximately 12:30 pm to be called to the interview. The interviewer slid the pledge to me and asked me to read it out loud. She returned the originals of my birth and marriage certificates. Then she asked me how we met, when we became a couple, what my husband does for a living, if I planned on living at XXXX (address) when approved. She asked if I had ever been arrested or in trouble with the law. She asked to see his divorce papers and when I explained that I didn't have them because my interview letter said that the NVC had not requested them she told me she needed to see them and that she couldn't approve my application until she did. She gave my passport back to me along with a 221g letter advising that to complete our application I would need to provide the certificate of divorce. I asked her once they got it how long it would take to be processed and my visa sent to me.....she told me that they are behind as they have been told to schedule more interviews to decrease the backlog. She said normal, approved cases are taking longer to get their visas.

I was also given a form letter with information regarding completing immigrant visa applications by mail with links to Loomis for sending additional requested information. Take note, the url they have listed is incorrect as is the email address they have for any IV case specific inquires. It was very frustrating trying to get the information I needed to send the documents.

SO, a few more things
They never asked to see my Loomis registration confirmation
Never asked for my DS-260 confirmation
Never asked for my interview letter
Never asked for any proof of domicile
Never asked for any proof of relationship

I couriered the documents to them today via Loomis. Fingers crossed that it doesn't take forever and a day for them to approve our application.

All in all, everyone was professional and courteous.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
