Consulate Review: Manila, Philippines Review Topic: K1 Visa Event Description Review Date : October 29, 2014 Embassy Review : I was with my fiancee for the interview. We stayed at the Bayview hotel across the street and walked across the street to the embassy in the early morning. There was a very long line outside the gate and it was initially confusing as to where we should go. Just ignore the line and go to the front. Marriage applicants have a separate line than everyone else. Once inside it was a simple 3 or 4 hour wait to be called to three separate windows. The first window is for fingerprinting, second for Filipino consular interview, and third for US consular interview. The Filipino consular only asked to see some pictures. The US consular only asked my fiancee to tell him something unique about me. It could have been anything such as I'm scared of frogs or something. It was an easy interview with me there. Filipinas that didn't have their fiancee with them didn't seem to have much of a problem, either. Once we were approved we had to go to one more window for processing. We had the visa packet sent to the Mall of Asia and it was ready for us to pick up in a little less than 2 weeks. Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Detroit Event Description Entry Date : 2014-10-18 Embassy Review : I went through the foreign passport line with my fiancee which took about 10 minutes of waiting. We didn't know you could approach the window as a couple, so we went one at a time. The female officer that spoke to my fiancee took her paperwork to verify. The part that I don't like is that she asked her how old she is and then how old I am. This is none of her business as she is only there to validate the visa and let us through. If the immigration officers want to do informal surveys of age differences they should do them on their own time. Other than that it was an easy process. We had no problem with customs other than the abrasive personality of the guy questioning us. I'm really glad I was there to deal with that or my fiancee might have been scared.
