Comments : I flew down to Guayaquil to attend the interview with Johnny. The day of the interview, we arrived at the consulate about 30 minutes early and we were permitted to enter. We were not allowed to bring the CD-ROM from the doctor with the test results, so we left that with security. We were surprised because the doctor said to bring it with us to the interview.

We were asked to sit to the side, with other people seeking residency and there was no one assisting us. After about 20 minutes, they asked everyone (about 40 people) to stand up and then they placed us in order based on the type of visa. We were #4.

When we were called to the first window, Johnny was asked for fingerprints. We were also asked for photos to document the relationship. We provided these, Johnny was given a survey asking about the doctor, and we were asked to take a seat.

About 10 minutes later, we were called to a second window and asked to read a sworn statement. We were asked again about photos, and provided them again. Then we were asked when and where we met, and whether this was my first time back to Ecuador since meeting Johnny. It was my 6th in 18 months and really surprised the Foreign Service Officer (FSO). Apparently, it is not common to travel so much.

Finally, the FSO asked Johnny what he is doing for work in Guayaquil and asked me a couple of questions about where I live. More so because he was familiar with the area. And then he told us the visa was approved. :-)

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
