Event Description

Embassy Review : They almost never do K visas so they did not realize they were supposed to contact me with an interview date, did not answer any of my emails and I didn't get to talk to anyone when I went to the embassy or called. I tried being patient because I knew they might just be going over everything, didn't think they just forgot! When my fiance finally called to ask they said I could get an interview next week and asked if I had my medical yet, turns out they didn't know they were supposed to tell me about that either. When I finally got an appointment for the medical two days before my interview the doctor tells me it usually takes him two weeks to get all the paperwork ready, embassy didn't know that either. Thankfully this doctor was a saint and did it for me the same day so I made my interview. Show up for that early but had to wait outside in Icelandic winter for 45 minutes and was therefore late for interview, then find out I need to pay in cash, no one had told me that on the 3 phone calls and several emails. After a quick run to the nearest ATM it was finally time for interview and the person was very nice and everything went well, she tells me my visa will be ready in a week and congratulations! I leave the embassy super happy and excited and book my ticket. The week goes by and nothing from the embassy so I call to ask what's going on and they say they need paperwork that I had with me at the interview and no one had asked me about!! This almost caused me to miss my flight but thankfully someone there did me a favor and printed the visa for me same day because I was there within 20 minutes with what they needed, turns out they also forgot to ask for my picture but I was carrying my file of paperwork and visa-stuff with me everywhere at that point so I had it on me when I went to pick up the visa.
Overall this caused my family to be apart for about two useless months which was sad mostly for my now husband who had to be away from not just me but also our son.
People who work here are very nice but sadly did not know the process of K visas, so to anyone dealing with this embassy I would say call, email, insist on getting answers and know the process well, do not just expect them to know it all and tell you what papers they need.
Rating : Very Poor
