Comments : POE was the Peace portal in Blaine, Wa. Everything went smoothly. We went thru the Nexus lane and the border guard told us to pull in and park, then go inside and wait in the nexus line there. We waited for a long time in the line. The same guard came inside to process us. He didn't seem to know a ton about the K1 visa but the guard next to him helped out. He took the package, gave me the i94 and that was about it. About an hr total from the time we parked, most of that was waiting In line. No complaints here.

Consulate Review: Vancouver, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 23, 2014
Embassy Review : The interview went very smoothly. I went alone to the consulate and arrived 1/2 early. They asked me to come back 15 mins later. When I arrived there was no one in line. Someone took my passport and the DS160 cover and handed those back to me. My bag was searched before going in the building - I left my cell phone behind, and only brought a small purse. Once through the door my bag/wallet/was searched again and all of my belongings went through the xray machine. Someone escorted me up in the elevator (use the washroom before getting on the elevator, there isn't one upstairs). Once upstairs I was told which window to go to. There were a few people in the waiting room. A nice guy looked through my folder and took the items he needed -- i-134, ds160 cover, the letters of intent, birth certificate and photocopy of it, criminal record check. He aske me a couple of questions - had I been arrested and charged, and had I been known by any other names. I then waited in the waiting room about 10 minutes until I was called by name. The fellow who did the interview was pleasant. He had me swear I was telling the truth and took my fingerprints. He asked about 5 minutes worth of questions, and did not ask for any additional proof of ongoing relationship. He asked me very basics about myself, how we came to meet, the proposal story, and a little bit about my fiance and how he cam to live in Canada. Because we have a wedding date set, he did ask me if I plan to come back to Canada after the wedding, and I assured him that I did not plan to and that we understood the rules. He the said my visa was approved and sent me back to the first window to collect my original birth certificate. The lady was very thorough in explaining the pick up process for the visa and how to proceed with the immigration process. I was out the door in under 40 minutes. Over all very simple and pleasant experience.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
