Port of Entry : Los Angeles
POE Date : 2015-01-12
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : It was a pretty fast and smooth entry. In the first place there was no queue at the immigration so we were interviewed right away. I traveled with my whole family so the officer interviewed me last. He is nice and accommodating and asked me the following questions:

Who's the lucky guy?
What's his last name?
How long have you known each other?
When are you getting married?
What do you do for a living?
You went to Disneyland? (after seeing our pictures together)

And then he told me some reminders on entering with K1 visa:
*One time entry
*We have to get married within 90 days
*Apply AOS thereafter
*Re-entry permit is needed if I intend to travel outside USA

And that's all!

Note: Looking back and now that I am applying AOS, I think the officer should have returned DS 3025 to me. It is a requirement in applying AOS and now I don't have a copy of it. Perhaps this is something to take note of for anyone who will enter US with K-1 visa.

Comments : 05/05/2018: Received a mail from USCIS indicating that they are able to reuse previous fingerprints and other biometrics.

07/23/2018: Got the temporary I-551 stamp on my passport at the San Fernando Valley field office. The officer confiscated the plastic green card as a matter of policy. The stamp is valid until July 22, 2019.

8/11/2018: Received 18 month extension letter supposedly valid until March 8, 2019.

9/11/2018: Received I-751 interview schedule notification in the mail.

10/22/2018: Interview at the San Fernando Valley office. The experience was great and we couldn't ask for a better Immigration Officer. Officer Tarloyan is nice, professional, and she made us feel at ease. She escorted us to her office and once we settled in, she took my photo and fingerprints, and made us raise our right hands and swear to tell only the truth, which we did. She then asked for our driver's license and old and new passports. She then explained that when she reviewed our case, she didn't find any red flags. Basically, they are conducting interviews to applicants who arrived the US with K1 fiancee visa as part of the changes implemented by Trump administration. Her questions were:

Where and when did you meet?
Who attended your wedding?
Was there a proposal?
How did my spouse become a US citizen?
What does he do for a living?
Do you go on holidays together?

She also asked if I brought additional evidence which I did. She said that what I had submitted in my original application are sufficient but she will take the new documents. She browsed through it and asked questions on the out of the country holiday trip we took early this year.

After the interview, she said everything looks great. She will approve our case and then told me to wait for about 8 months to hear about my N400 which I filed in June 2018.

I checked my case status online and it says my card is being produced.

10/29/2018: Received three (3) mails from USCIS today: (1) Notice of completion of the preliminary review of application; (2) Approval notice noting that I should receive the new card within 60 days; and (3) the actual green card(!!) valid until October 23, 2028.

Time period between June 10, 2017 and October 23, 2018 (exclusive) equals to:

500 days
... or 71 weeks and 3 days
... or 1 year, 4 months, and 13 days

I arrived early and got ‘Immigrant Visa’ queue number 004. I was already sitting and waiting at 8.30am then queue numbers 001 - 003 were flashed on the screen. It’s funny that nobody showed up. I guess some ‘Non-Immigrant visa’ applicants pressed the wrong queue numbers at first. I was just barely composing myself and my number was called.

First interview

Window 7. The interviewer is the famous Asian guy. He was in a good mood and speaks very calmly. He said he needs to check if I brought all the documents needed before my interview with the Consul Officer.

Questions
• Did you bring your passport with you?
• What is your immigration status in Singapore?
• When and how did you meet your petitioner?
• What is your civil status? Single as in never married?
• Do you have children?
• What is your petitioner's civil status? Single as in never married?
• Does he have children?
• How did he become a U.S. citizen?
• What does he do for a living?
• Did he ever share with you how much he's earning?
• When was the last time you met face to face?
• Do you have a valid U.S. visa? Is it in your passport?
• You stated xx no. of countries visited in DS-160, what was the purpose of those travels?
• Did you bring evidence of your relationship? Please choose 4 photos to show to the Consul. It should be different from the ones you’ve submitted in I-129F.
• So you requested to delay your visa, when do you intend to leave?
• Have you read the IMBRA pamphlet?

He then returned my x-ray and gave me the Aramex instruction sheet. He said that if the Consul requests for more documents then I need to complete the form and send it back to them. He also instructed to register in the website for my preferred passport delivery option.

These are the documents he took from me:
• Passport
• Photocopy of birth certificate
• Original NBI (Philippines) and Singapore police clearances
• Beneficiary's financial documents (all original)
o 3 months’ UOB bank statements (May-July 2014)
o 3 months’ POSB bank statements (May-July 2014)
o Prudential Insurance cashback statement
• Petitioner's financial documents (all original)
o Form I-134
o 2013 Tax Return Transcript
o 4 months’ company pay stubs (March-June 2014)
o 1 year checking account bank statements (June 2013-2014)
• Evidence of relationship
o Skype video calls and chat logs
o Gmail screenshots
o Facebook screenshots
o 4 screenshot photos printed on bond paper
o Original gift receipts
o Photocopy of high school yearbook
o He asked for 4 more photos and I gave them the oldest ones taken between 1999-2005

These are the documents he returned to me:
• Original copy of birth certificate
• Beneficiary’s redundancy letter from company stating the severance package
• Petitioner’s W2 statements 2011-2013
• Petitioner’s promotion letter from company

He asked me to sit down and wait for my number to be called again for second interview. This was the longest part because I waited for 1.5 hours. I just entertained myself by listening to the ongoing interviews. I can hear them loud and clear.

Second interview

Window 8. I was surprised the Consul called my name but my number wasn't flashed on the screen. I was so happy to find out that he was the same Consul who interviewed me when I applied for tourist visa last year. He is very nice and not intimidating so I had a level of comfort at this point.

He greeted me and asked how’s my day so far. He then took all my fingerprints and returned the 4 photos taken between 1999-2005 I submitted earlier. He said that my fiancé and I seem to have known each other for a long time (15 years to be exact).

Questions
• Your petitioner is Mr. Xxxxx?
• When and how did you meet?
• What does he do for a living? Then he commented the he knows where my fiancé works.
• Which part of US is he staying?
• When was the last time you've seen each other?
• How often do you meet?

Then he said, well it seems like our case is fine so he will not hold me for too long. Then he asked me to take an oath stating that all information I stated are true and correct. I said yes and he asked for my fingerprints again. He reminded me to register online and depending if I want to pick up my passport or have it delivered, I may get the visa in a week’s time (I’m assuming mine will take a week because U.S. Embassy is closed on Friday, 8 August, and the following Monday, 11 August, is a Singapore public holiday). He then said, that’s all Madame!

I’m so happy but not 100% sure if I’m approved so I asked him directly! And he said “well your case is okay… I intend to approve it but if something comes up within the week, we will call you directly which I doubt (then he smiled) but still wait until you hear from us.. have a good day Madame!”

I finished at 10.45am so I was in the Embassy for 2 hours. I feel like I’m approved but okay I will wait until I get my visa on hand before I celebrate!!

It has been an amazing journey so far and I’m so glad this part of the process is over!! My fiancé and I didn't hire an immigration lawyer. I did everything from scratch just by following the guides here. All my fiancé did was sign the papers which is not a big deal to me. There were no request for more evidence (RFE) or whatsoever. Overall, it was a super smooth visa application. I find it fast too that I had to request to delay my interview for a month. Thanks to everyone who helped me in the process and feel free to drop me a message if you have any questions.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
