Consulate Review: Sydney, Australia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 13, 2014
Embassy Review : I flew in the night before as I live in Adelaide. I would suggest if coming interstate by plane to arrive the previous day. I stayed at the travel lodge on Philips street which is right around the corner from then US consulate . So I would recommend staying there . Also train station is at the end of the Phillips street and costs $16 to get to airport. I took a taxi when I got there as I didn't know where I was and it was $45 bucks !!!!! So catch a train lol.. My appointment was at 930 am do not arrive any earlier then 15 minutes before interview time they won't let you in. At 915 am I went through they asked my name crossed me off the list. Had to go through security asked if I had any electronics I didn't left it all at hotel . Was much faster and easier not bringing anything with you. They then asked you to take a seat .
Officer calls you up and takes u into the left and says next stop . Arrive on level 10 and asked for passport then they tell you go through these doors and get a ticket . They call you up to the first window and ask for passport and the payment letter for visa and prepaid envelope . Aus post don't do platinum envelope any more so get just a 3kg express post and make sure you get one that requires a signature upon delivery .. They ask you to sit down wait for your number to be called again. Went to next window asked my name ?
What's my fiancé name?
What does he do for a job?
What is the purpose of this visa ?
How many times he's been married ? I replied 2 she said so you will be his third ?? I said yes he is a double widower? She replied oh lol
How many kids does he have ?
How many is dependent on him?
How did the relationship evolve ?
How did we meet ?
How many times have I been to the USA?
What do my family think of me moving ?
What do i do for work here ?
Will I try for the same kind of work there ?
The whole time the lady didn't smile straight faced . She was nice and just doing her job but I was a little nervous lol
She said congratulations all your paper work is in order so I can approve you today . I said oh hanks so much . And stood there looking at her thinking is that it!!!! She said um you can go now hahahah
I said so I don't have to do anything else she said no that's it . So i left went back to the security room the lady said oh I remember you you didn't have anything on you so you can leave now so I left .. Excited !!! And went back to hotel to pick up bags and ring my fiancé with the good news . Interview 7th jan passport received back on the 14th jan .. Yayyyyy it's all over !!!! time to create a future with my fiancé..
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
