Consulate Review: Ukraine
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 13, 2014
Embassy Review : My wife's interview was scheduled for 08:00, she arrived just a little early. At 08:00 they began asking to see everyone's interview letters, the immigrant visa people were let in the building first.

Just after 08:00, they began calling names, to turn in any supporting documents/proof of relationship information/Medical results. She was the third person to be called. I had put together several clear report covers with all our information, separated into communication records, photos, financial/gifts I'd sent and records of my travels there and trips we had taken together. She said the lady taking the documents acted like we had too much information. But I'd rather have too much, than not enough.

About 30 minutes later, they called her for fingerprints, and to begin her interview. She said by that time the waiting area had become very full (her mother went along, to watch her stuff outside, she said the security guard told her they average 500 interviews, for all visa types, per day).

She was asked two questions, how did we meet, and how many times had I been to Ukraine. That was the end of the interview, and the CO told her they would issue her visa, gave her a paper stating the same, and that she should have her passport in around a week. They also returned all of our original documents.

She said everyone was friendly, and professional. We have been to the US Citizen services division in Kiev twice, and it has always been the same.

The whole thing took around 90 minutes.

She did say that the interview area was within earshot of the waiting area, so everyone waiting could hear the interviews. And that the people with less supporting information were asked more questions.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
