Consulate Review: Dublin, Ireland
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 2, 2013
Embassy Review : I had my CR/IR-1 interview on 27th August 01:00pm. I arrived around 12:40ish had to wait outside for another 15-20 mins before they let us inside. There was another couple behind me and a girl for her diversity visa. At 1pm they started people inside the security hut one at a time. and it was a completely pleasant experience. The security guards were very nice and chatty and helpful.
After getting through the Security hut after airport style security check, we were asked to go up the ramp on the right hand side and into the building. When I reached inside I was greeted by two security officers inside and asked what kind of visa interview I was applying (Immigrant or Non-Immigrant). When I mentioned immigrant, security officer went to the ticket machine and got me the ticket for immigrant visa. And was asked to take a seat in the waiting area on the right hand side, as I believe the left hand side was for non-immigrant visas.
Now the waiting game started…proximately after 30 mins or so my number was called and the person at the window was checking if I was the correct beneficiary (name and details…no paper asked at this time). So went back at sat in the waiting area for another hour or so and my name was called this time, I think famous lady is the same women what everyone has described before, she took my passport / envelope / medical, asked me to sign the form and asked for a recent photograph (again no other documents were requested by her), to be honest she was very professional and efficient I had a pleasant experience talking to her at the window.
Again went back and sat in the waiting area…30 mins passed, 45 mins passed almost about an hour…and suddenly I looked back there was no one accept myself waiting in the room for immigrant visa. Yes my name was called…..an awesome visa office in his mid-sixties…greeted me with a big smile. I greeted back.
Asked what kind of engineer I was…and I mentioned software….he said I hope you don’t make the software he was using otherwise he won’t issue me a visa……as it was too slow for him…Of course I said a big ‘NO’. That was an ice breaker. and we laughed.Took my fingerprints
Well next he mentioned my application is nearly perfect, as soon as this software works faster I am going to issue you with the VISA….what( In my mind…no questions asked…looked for no further evidence), I asked him if he needs any other information or document from me. He said NO, we are glad to have to ‘Welcome to America’……..you will receive your passport in 3-4 business days. And I received by passport today with the sealed envelope and $165 fees to pay with instructions.
It was great experience at the US embassy. Want to thank all the VJ members for their support and guidance.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
