Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 21, 2013
Embassy Review : I got my K1 Visa Approved yesterday.. Feb. 20, 2013 at U.S. Embassy Abu Dhabi. After the interview, me and my friend went straight to St. Joseph Church, to tell HIM how thankful i'am for His Graces, Guidance and Help.

Here is what happened.
I was in the Embassy 6:40AM. After the security checking i was given 005 number.
The lady from counter 09 was the one who got all my papers/documents. She immediately told me, to give her all the duplicate copies only, don't give her any original copies. So I did. After gathering all the papers, i was asked to pay for the fees in counter no. 1. then I went back to counter 09 to give her the receipt. She then instructed me to go to last counter for Biometrics.
After the Finger print, I sat down to wait for the next step.

After few minutes, The lady guard approached me to go to window number 4, the consul was a pretty, kinda strict woman, wearing prescription glasses. She was keenly scrutinizing all my documents, particularly the I-134 form from my Fiance. She was looking all the pictures my Fiance submited in USCIS. I signed DS form 230 after writing my Fiance's name. She asked few questions, and about to give me white paper, but when i told her that i already signed up on that CSC website, she just gave me the receipt of what i paid. She also told me to wait for a week for the courier to e-mail me where and when to get my passport.

Questions the Consul Officer Asked.

1. What your Fiance's work?
2. When was the first time we met?
3. Is there other children you fiance have?
4. How many years i been here in UAE?

Documents I submitted:

DS 156 (online form) - she get 2 copies- already signed
DS 230 part 1 and part 2 - she get only 1 copy
DS 157 - 1 copy
DS 156K - 1 copy

Birth Certificate, Police Clearance (mine - Taiwan, Qatar, Dubai and NBI), Divorce Decree & Marriage Certificate with annotation, and all the affidavit of Support from my Fiance ( form I-134, work certificate with pay stubs, Bank statement, W2 of 2012, tax 1040- 2009,2010 and 2011. ). Medical Result (the small envelop only.. I didn't bring my X-ray film which the embassy didn't ask anyway)
I asked the lady if she wants the "letter of Intent to marry" from my fiance and me. She moved her head, meaning 'No'.

Mood:
Just be confident, focus, polite and smile.

Prayer is the best thing i have during my interview. God is wonderfully amazing.

by 9:15 AM i was already outside the embassy

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
