Comments : Ms. X had her interview on March 6th and was placed in AP. We thought this was due to the CCP membership as they requested Statement of Membership involvement and a Resume After contacting our congressman, we were told that the AP was not due to the CCP membership but to further investigate that her previous J1 visa responsibilities were fulfilled and this should take
about 2 weeks.
We received notice of the visa approval and to send the passport on April 17th. Passport was shipped to the consulate via CITIC Bank on April 21 and was held up one more day due to the missing one part of the paperwork. The USTRAVELDOCS website was very confusing for those who interviewed before March 16th but were placed On AP. the consulate received the passport on April 30th. The visa was finally issued on May 10th.
We decided to book the plane ticket after the visa was issued (against all recommendations given). The consulate IV visa office was closed from May 13-16 due to an envelope with white powder being found. The passport did not leave the consulate until May 17th. It arrived at the regional CITIC Bank on May 20 and the local branch on May 21. Flight on May 22nd. No problems making it through customs in SFO and made the connection (2 1/2 hour layover). Flight from Denver to local airport was cancelled and Ms. X had to spend the night in Denver. Flight rebooked for May 23 to a different airport. Went to the local court house before 4:00 on May 23rd to get marriage license and had a small ceremony at 6:00.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
