Embassy Review : I first have to thank VJ and especially the friends I have made through this site. Without their advice and help, this process would have been much more challenging!

We arrived at the embassy this morning at 5am. My fiance wanted to get there early and we were the first in line. We entered the embassy at 7am. After the security checkpoint (leave all makeup, computer/phone, medicine at home or in your car)- we went to a waiting area inside. Very thankful that this room was air conditioned. They called us up to check-in at the counter. They asked him a few questions (Are we already married, have we been married to others, do we have children together etc....). They returned a number of the extra copies of items I had submitted. I had prepared additional evidence (more pictues, travel documents, phone/skype etc...) but she would not take it and said if they needed anything additional they would ask. They took his passport and we returned to our seats. After a bit, we were called up for my fiance to get his fingerprints taken. Shortly after, we were called up for the interview. He had to swear that the information he was giving was true and then signed the application. They asked him a few questions (when did he meet me, when did he last see me, who proposed, how do we communicate....). Then, in English, she asked me to verify the information he gave. I told her how we met and how we communicate. That was it!!! We had been reviewing interview questions over and over again- and they only asked 4-5 questions. She never asked for additional evidence and returned all our pictures and the evidence we had previously submitted. She said, "You qualify for a visa- pay Haiti Messenger on your way out!". That was it! We were so surprised it wasn't longer or more involved! I'm sure it is because we frontloaded all the evidence and gave more than we needed too. We paid the $15 and he will his visa within a week. We were back to our car a little after 9am. The embassy staff was helpful and professional- not overly warm/friendly but it seemed to fit the serious nature of the work at hand. We are happy to be finished with things here in Haiti and look forward to continuing the process from the USA!!!
PS- I gave the embassy a rating of 4. I thought my experience the day of the interview was excellent, however, their communication via email/phone is very unreliable and needs improvement.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
