Consulate Review: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 1, 2013
Embassy Review : My wife's interview was at 8:00am at the US consulate in Ho Chi Minh city. So we got there around 6 am, and it so happens that a freakin monsoon came in to greet us. So we waited about an hour in the rain. Then we waited another hour in a different line inside. Then we ended up navigating back through a checkpoint and waited in a another line for about 30 minutes, which was to process her paper work. We then waited for 3 hours until we were called up for my wife's interview. As we were waiting, we saw interviews happening in front of us. Some couples were leaving with joy since they passed, and some with blue slips, and family members crying. So the tension was getting to my wife, as i was relaxed, telling her to calm down. So when we got called up,I literally placed the luggage full of evidence on the window, with the interviewer smiling, to only tell me to sit back down away from the interview. 10 minutes later, my wife calls me back to the window to have the man telling us that her visa will be in 2 weeks. Awesome feeling as we were overcome with joy.

My only tip here is when your there, act like a couple. A lot of couples were acting pretty robotic to one another. Plus, make sure you have all your evidence ready to go. They literally just saw a couple photos during my wife's interview and didn't even look at everything else. But bring it anyways. Since we did see one window literally throwing kitchen sink of evidence, since they wanted to see everything.

My only gripe was really the wait. Waiting in the rain wasn't really too fun as well. But with her passing, it was well worth it.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
