Consulate Review: Haiti
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 13, 2013
Embassy Review : We were about 15 minutes away from the embassy. We left the house a 5:40 and arrived at 6 am. When we got there, there was already people in line. Left line is for immigrant visas, the right one is for tourists visa, but we didn't know that until about 6:30 security asked us for the interview letter. Luckily he was nice he allowed us to proceed to the second checkpoint where we had to leave all electronics, liquid etc... then we proceeded inside for bag checks. 10 minutes later, we were already at the consulate waiting area. At 7:30 we were called to the first window to check in. THANK GOD it was a nice young man lol.. he asked us if we brought new proofs, we gave him 2 big folder of our whattsup and Skype conversation, then he asked us a few questions like:if either me or my fiancé was married before we met, new contact number etc then he returned some extra evidence that we brought to us and we went back to our seat. In the meantime my job was to calm him down. I had no doubt in my mind that we weren't going to get approved but he was still anxious. So we talked about our love story, we laughted, we hugged, we joked and it helped him a lot. At 8:10 we were called to the second window for his fingerprints, Our file was so big that she had to put it in a large brown folder and put rubber band around it. Back to the waiting area again, I continue to calm him down, remembering our first date, our first disagreement loll and how we made up. We laughted so hard that we forgot where we were. Then around 8:45 am his name was called. I went with him, it was a lady, she did not ask me to wait for my turn. she had him swear that everything he will say is nothing but the truth, he answered yes of course!! She told me my fiancé I see that you speak English would you like to be interviewed in English? he was so nervous he rather do it in Creole? The questions were: How did we meet? How/Where did he propose? Who took our pictures? Has he been to the usa to visit me? How many times I visited? Does he have any children? and I also helped him answered. She had no problems with that. Then she told us Congratulations, Just pay the $ 15 fee of front with HM then she will let you guys know when to pick up the passport. At that moment we were thrilled we looked at each other with a big smile, he lifted me up and kiss me. By 9:15 we were on our way home...
This journey has been a test for our relationship and indeed we succeeded. WE did it!!!!
A lot of people got their decisions delayed today, be prepared and always put a smile on your face at the interview.!!!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
