Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 18, 2013
Embassy Review : My interview appointment was at 9:30 but I got there a little early and got in line.
Then a guy came up and asked people if anyone was there for an immigrant visa, so I told him I was, and he said to follow him to a different line (right next to it) where there was only another person ahead of me.

So i got my "number" and went in when it was my turn. Just like at an airport, a quick security check was done in the next room. I got my purse back and went into the next building, where the actual interview would take place.

The guy at the entrance told me where to go and I got in line at a window for a quick check-in.
I had the wrong envelop with me, so he gave me one of theirs and told me where and how many stamps to get (bring some coins, just in case). He said to sit down in the waiting area until my number gets called after that.
I did that and waited for about 30 minutes. The women at the next window now asked me whether all the info on our application is still correct (like the place where I live, my name etc..).
That didn't take long at all. Again, she told me to sit down and wait til my number gets called, and be ready for my actual interview.
I waited for about an hour or so for my number to appear on the board.

The immigration I officer made me swear, that all that information i give is correct, before he started the interview.
The interview was in German and very easy. It was just like chatting about your relationship with someone you don't actually know. He was very nice and asked me questions like:
- how and where we met
- (since we met at a concert) he asked whether we at any instruments and what kind of music we like
- where I was born
- how we stayed in touch
- whether I go or went to school here, and what I studied

After that, he wanted to get a few more fingerprints and then told me "your visa is approved"!
He was very nice and the actual interview took only about 7minutes or so
I think I spend about two and a half hours total in there.

Good luck everyone!

Hi broz4k, congratulations on the approval. I am confused by your timeline though. It says that your interview took place in 2013 but you only submitted the I-130 in Feb 2021...and according to your timeline you are not yet at the interview stage. Could you adjust your timeline so that we can see how long each step took for you? I will also applying from/via Germany so I am keen to see how long it took in your case. Thanks!

This is actually our second time through the I-130 process. I couldn’t find where to add a second timeline, so I just overwrote the dates from the first time.

How did yo ureceive NVC acceptance letter? and did status changed on your approved i-130? (to something else then approved) thank you

NVC contacted us via email. Not sure how to answer the I-130 question. The USCIS approved our I-130 and sent it to the NVC for further processing. I'm only dealing with NVC now. I'm not aware of all the possible status's for the I-130. It went from "We are actively reviewing your case" to "Case is approved." That's good enough for me!

Hi Broz4k, thanks so much for your reply! Make sense. Good luck at the NVC stage!

I called NVC and they have not received anything from USCIS. I called USCIS and of course, as usual, they have no idea about anything. I dont understand what does it take to press the button to send the i-130 to NVC. Why USCIS staff are so uncarring and unresponsible. Our i-130 was approved on 15 february (where is written that next step is adjustment of status, like when applicant is in USA). after 1 week, on 23 February i-130 was approved again with information that it will go to consular processing ( as it should have been). They also wote to our senator that they have sent case to NVC, but still they have not. Such unprofessionals!!!! Senator is helping us to expedite it and needs NVC registration to help expedite it further. and it happens totaly opposite thanks to USCIS unprofessional staff :(

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
