Comments : I crossed the Coutts/Sweetgrass border Sunday at noon in a Uhaul truck.
Pulled up and told them I was coming in on a K1. He took my passport and asked me to pull around and come inside.
After about 10 mins inside a lady called me up and asked for my envelope. She asked me where I was going to be living, confirmed that it was the same address in the package. Took my photo, then stamped my passport. Told me I had to get married within 90 days and file for adjustment if status, etc. I seemed to know more about the process than she did, but I said as long as that package makes it to the USCIS then all should be fine.
I paid $6 for the I-94 and they said welcome you’re good to go.

They didn’t ask about my Uhual or bother looking in it

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 10, 2021
Embassy Review : I arrived to the consulate 15 mins early and showed the security guard my email showing my appointment time. I was not on his list, so he went inside and a few mins later came back and let me in. I went through security (similar to the airport), then was instructed to turn my phone off and put it in a locker. I then took the elevator up to the 1st floor and was instructed to go to window 6. Once on the floor of the consulate, you'll find about 20-30 chairs for people to wait and 12 interview windows.
At the first window, they'll ask you a few questions and then give you a number. You'll sit and wait for your number to come up on the tv on the wall. Roughly 20 mins went by my number came up, I headed back up to the window and provided the documents as requested. They wanted originals and copies of birth certificates, a receipt for payment of visa fee, passport, i-134, petitioner tax records (I brought 3 years), petitioner employment letter, divorce decree for both parties. Once she had placed everything in order, I was asked to go sit down and wait for my number to be called again.

About 30 mins went by and I was called up to a separate window for my interview. She asked me to tell me about the petitioner, when did we meet, how did we meet, where does she live, what does she do for work, phone #, email. That was it, she recommended approval of the application and said it should take up to 2 weeks. The interview was probably 1 minute long.

Make sure you bring originals of everything that you can, as well as copies. I overheard a few people saying that their lawyer told them they didn't need to bring this or that and that they didn't have the originals. This obviously delayed their case as they now have to go home and send back the original. Bring more than what you need and you'll breeze through the process.

Hello, I'm reaching out to you because you are going through the same process as me here in Montreal, but you are about one month ahead of me. I just received my interview date for Jan. 13th, but the email did not include information about the medical exam. Did you receive this information separately? Do you mind telling me about this, how long the processing took, and if they send the results directly to the consulate? I would really appreciate it :) Best of luck to you on the 8th!!

Thanks for the detailed description of some of the important steps. I'm glad you made it over the border without a problem :) Did you have an updated ESTA or was it not necessary? I haven't updated mine since the pandemic began, and I wonder if I need to do this before I move.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
