Comments : After the interview, he was given the dreaded 221(g) asking for a police certificate for the time he was studying in Austria. He was told once he turned it in, he would receive his visa. He was able to get it from the Austrian Embassy the next day and immediately took it to the US Embassy. It took slightly less than 2 weeks for him to have his visa in hand.

Consulate Review: Ankara, Turkey
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 20, 2012
Embassy Review : My fiance arrived around 7:30. He was the first in and had his interview right away. He was interviewed in English by a female and she asked ordinary and not-so-ordinary questions. Examples:

When did you meet?
How did you meet?
When did he meet my daughter?
How is his relationship with her?
Why does he want to marry me?
Why was he living in Texas last year?
Why do we want to live in Oklahoma?
Does he plan to work?
How and when does he call me?
Have I ever been to Turkey to see him?

He said everyone was very nice and polite. At the end, he was asked to bring a police certificate from when he was living in Austria and as soon as they received it, they would mail his passport and visa.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
