Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 15, 2012
Embassy Review : Our experience was similar other people
-Arrived at the Consulate early (this is suggested since the lines get long)
-Around 7:20 lines split into immigrant & non-immigrant visa lines.
(checked interview letter while in line)
-Around 7:45 the lines moved in and went through security check.
(It's similar to airport security check, so good suggestion is don't carry anything but your documents. Try not to have metal on yourself, belts etc.)
-Exit the security passage. - Exit to outdoor waiting area.
-Enter main interview room (again checked interview letter before entering)
-Lines are formed for token number. (another reason to get through security check fast)
-When this token number is called, Indian officers check your documents. And take your fingerprints. And ask a few general questions. This is a per-interview interview to make sure your are OK for your interview.
-After this wait again for your (same) token number to be displayed on the screen.
-American officer did not ask for any documents. Asked a few official but general question. And had friendly conversation afterwards.
-Got the visa.
-Out by 9-9:30
Since the procedure has changed for passport delivery make sure to register on ustravedocs.com
If you have any questions about the interview, feel free to message me.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
