Event Description

Embassy Review : Review of Almaty consulate.

Interview was on Tuesday at 8:00 AM. My fiancée arrive 20 minutes earlier to the US consulate. She was asked to wait outside. There were two more guys who were appointed for interview as well. My fiancée saw a pleasantly plum person and was thinking that if he CEO she would bought him a donuts. She gave him a nick name “Donut” as well. She was worried and checks with security after 10 minutes of wait if they forgot about her. They told her with a smile that they will not forget to invite them inside when time comes. Later on they call all 3 people by names to enter the building.

She had documents in a folder and proof that we see each other in binder as well original copies of tickets and other stuff. They did not allow taking a pen and photo album that she brought
.
She was escorted with the security through the building. The place has very high security. I got impression that this building has more security then in the jail. (If you compare to movies).
She goes to window #4 they ask for passport and was asked questions. Where do you work, profession and where. Then they ask for all forms, original and translated birth certificate. Financial proof for form I-134 and the rest of papers.
Note: The order of the documents might be different.

In other windows she paid the fee.

She was called for the interview. She was little bit surprised as the interview was like in prison through the window. She sat down and CEO pleasantly plump person aka “Donut” was there. She got surprised again. When I was talking to my fiancée I told her to smile to CEO but he never look at her and was concentrated on the screen of the monitor as well on the papers. The CEO was talking to her in English but she could not understand what he was asking. He asks her following questions with big Russian accent.

How you met your fiancé
Where he works
What his position/profession
Where he lives
When his birthday
When you met him in person

She answered all questions in English. (She knows a British English). He did not ask for any proof or other documents. Again in Russian he told her that visa approved and she can pick up the passport on Thursday at 10:00 am. She goes back and nice security guy gave her a pen as a present. I guess he try to steal my fiancée J/K.

The interview was done at 9:30 AM. Once she got home she called me. We are happy with the Almaty US consulate. I just wonder if visitor visa will be easy to get or not.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
