Consulate Review: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 3, 2012
Embassy Review : My wife recently went for a CR-1 visa interview at the Ho Chi Minh City consulate in Vietnam. The overall process took about two hours (the vast majority of it waiting.) Once she was allowed into the consulate they took her fingerprints and then later asked for her documentation. They seemed adamant about not taking the picture from the reception we had in Vietnam with all of her family but instead wanted pictures with me (the USC) and my family here in America.

As far as the actual interview was they asked very few questions. She was asked how we met (worked together) and where we worked (University food court) and then was asked my name. After the interview was over she was told to pay to get the visa sent via courier and that it would get to her when it was ready.

Overall she said it was a pleasant experience and all the personnel were nice to her.

Thanks for reading!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
