Wow- approved! I just came from the interview and I thought I'd update it immediately before I get wrapped up in moving.
So... arrived at the consulate at 6:45am and there were 3 groups ahead of me. Met another VisaJourney young woman that arrived just after I did. Waited until 7:30am and then they let us in. Make sure you have your print out with your Loomis Reference ID number on it. This was the first thing they asked for. I also had my Interview letter out as well as my passport which the lady looked at. Several people in the line were told to leave with their bags and extra belongings. If you can manage it, I would recommend only having your document folder and put your ID/credit card or whatever necessities in your pocket. Don't bring a purse/cellphone/keys etc but if you have to then they can keep your cellphone/keys downstairs in security but it is just another snag. Then we went downstairs and eventually in the elevator up to the 19th floor. Myself and two other VJ members were the first three in line to receive our waiting tickets (it is located to the left when you get out of the elevator booth 14A i think it was). I got the C-3 ticket and was called up to the document intake window as soon as they opened up. The man was really nice and asked for my documents one-by-one. He confirmed my address and took the new address for the house that my husband and I signed a lease on. He took my original birth certificate, original marriage certificate, original police certificate, 2 passport photos, and passport. I had all of the AOS tax documents as well as everything I had ever submitted to USCIS or NVC including print-outs of all correspondence, but none of it was asked for (thankfully he had my file). We had already submitted the recent 2011 taxes so I think this is why he didn't ask for anything. He asked me many questions basically confirming who I was: aka what is your moms name, dads name, etc. After this he took my finger prints and I sat down again. I was called up shortly after that for the interview portion. My interviewer was REALLY nice and made me feel pretty relaxed. First off I swore the oath, took some more finger prints and then he gave back my official copies of my civil documents. He asked me where my husband and I got married, when we got married, how we had met, what my husband does for work, what I did for work, where I lived, what my plans were for moving down there and a few more basic ones I can't remember. After all of that he smiled and said "you're approved"! So he gave me my welcome to the US paper. Now just have to wait for the passport/visa and paperwork to get sent back and I am going to be en route to California javascript:emoticon(' ') |
