Embassy Review : My fiance's 1st interview was June 5th. He was asked the normal questions, who is sending for you, where does she work, what are her parents name, etc. My fiance answered everything correctly. But the CO asked if i had ever been to Haiti. My fiance said no we met in the Dominican Republic. The CO told my fiance I really want to approve your visa but I cannot because your fiance has never been to Haiti. She gave my fiance a 221(g).

July 27, 2012: My fiance and I arrive at the embassy. There was a line. I bypassed the line. I showed my US passport, they checked a paper to make sure my fiance's name was there. It was so we were able to get in immediately. We stood at window (19 i think) we waited over 30 minutes for them to take our passports. A man finally came to the window and told us to have a seat. There were soooo many people applying for visitor visa's most were denied. My heart hurt for them because they just want a better life.

We sat for an hour. Finally my fiance's name was called we both got up to go to the window. But they only wanted my fiance. So I sat down. My fiance was gone for at least 45 minutes. I was so nervous i couldn't sit in my seat. Finally an officer came to me and asked me to follow him. I followed him to a small room. When the door open I saw my fiance. Immediately i said hey baby. But then I looked straight ahead and saw a man waiting for me. I walked to the window were there was a seat and he said hello Ms. C.

The man was really nice. He asked how we met. Have I met his parents. I said no they are deceased but I have met two of his sisters. He ask their names. He asked when did I start working. Where do I work. He kept trying to confuse me by saying I live in Atlanta (my cell number is from Atl). He asked how do I like Atlanta? I said its nice but I do not live there. He asked how many miles is my apt from my job. He said I understand you have a good friend that helps you with your Spanish. I said yes I have a co-worker and a really good friend that helps me with Spanish, he asked her name i told him (my fiance said he initially asked him about some of my closest friends, he gave 3 that I talk about the most). He asked about my trip to Santo Domingo. I answered correctly but he tried to confuse me. He said so did your fiance give you a gift in the DR I thought about it. Because its been so long but if I had a gift from him I would remember. I said no sir I don't remember a gift. He said r u sure? I said yes. He asked what kind of car do I have and what color is it. He asked for my phone number. Luckily my fiance and I had practiced all the questions that he asked me accept for the gift. He asked for my phone number.

My fiance was sitting patiently in the back of the room while I was being interviewed. He said Miss C I am going to give you back your passport. Go back to the waiting room until your fiance's name is called. I said thank you, I grabbed my fiance's hand and we went back to the waiting room. They called my fiance's name 20-25 minutes later. They told him bon voyage. Pay Haiti messenger $15. Pick up your visa in 10 days. Thank you God.
