Consulate Review: Egypt
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 22, 2012
Embassy Review : The appointment was at 8:30. I got there a little bit after 8:30 and got in right away. I kinda know the routine in there since I got 2 NIVs before. Unlike the NIV, they gave me a number and no one checked my papers neither took my passport. My number was 628 and they were processing 612 when I got in so I got to stay for at least half an hour. Once my number was called everything moved fast. An Egyptian lady first went through my file and got my medical report and my original documents. Then she told me to go and pay the fees. I didn't have enough in neither EGP nor USD. I had to go out of the embassy to exchange a 100 bucks, came back thru security again, paid the fees and just as I was paying the DHL my number got called by the CO. I left the DHL and went to the window as she asked for my DHL receipt, I told her that I was just paying it when she called my number. She said I can go pay it and she will call my number again. I did and waited for few minutes till she finished was 629. Non of the normal questions were asked. She asked when was the longest visit to the US and How long were my other visits. She asked why we are immigrating since my wife and I had been living in Egypt since before we got married. What are my plans for living in the US. Then she said congratulations your visa has been approved and you will get it after 2 weeks
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
