Consulate Review: Juarez, Mexico
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 4, 2012
Embassy Review : My travel started on Thursday August the 23rd, arrived to Juarez and stayed with relatives, I was taken to the Clinic on Friday the 24th. (we arrived at 5 30 am) somebody on the street told me I needed to go across the street and have my papers checked, I knew already that was a trick, I declined and went forward to the clinic, had requested prices and info over the phone but ended going to the other clinic, it was open already, went in through a metal detector and check of my papers: appointment, passport and invitation letter, they checked my bag and we went in, me and my kid. Went to this huge waiting room, where they checked the papers and gave me a #, took our pictures and given a paper bracelet with a bar code and sent us to wait in another set of chairs, few minutes later my number was called, was asked if I was alone with my kid, they said no blood test on kids so they can and should eat something. They sent my kid with my relative to the front of the clinic, while I was taken my chest x ray and sent for a blood sample. I was sent upstairs after that, waited to be called, we were let in in a group, maybe 8 of us women there, formed a line, read our barcodes and took our weight, then form another line for vision test, just covered one eye and read lines, then cover the other one. I was sent to a tiny doctor's examination office, they had like 6 of them, we were given a paper disposable robe and were asked to undress all the way, then a female doctor came in, asked me to sit on the table, asked me: Have you ever been to the US? Have you had surgery? Have you used drug? Then she asked me to lie down and she pulled up my robe, pushed my stomach and asked me to sit, she didn t ask for tatoos, she asked me to show her my hands and let me get dressed, she left, didn t last but maybe 5 minutes. I went to dress, went to the vaccination window, was told no need for any, since applying for K-1. Then I went to have my kid's doctor interview, normal questions, any health problems, weight, height, that was it. No vaccinations either, were sent to pay (190 for me, plus iva, 155 for kid plus iva) a total of 4880 pesos (361.00 dlls) Kid results to be ready on Monday, we went back with my relatives and came back on Monday at 11, I got surprised to see how many people were waiting for their kids TB test to be checked, my kid s arm didn t have any reaction but some other kids were sent to x-rays, told to be back at 3 pm. In the meantime we went to Plaza Misiones, just across the avenue, used the bridge (there was a guard there) so I didn t feel it unsafe. Came back across the street for fingerprints at 2 30 pm. showed my invitation letter, DS-260 receipt with barcode and passports, went in an out in 10 minutes, maybe 15. Photo of my kid was taken from a picture I had brought with me, no fingerprints for kids under 7 (?). All for that day. Next morning went to the Sala de Espera, papers were stamped, I was sent to the line at the Consulate (3 minutes walking) Had invitation, passports and medical at hand (black plastic envelope not to be opened) and were sent to a line #2, where nobody else was waiting, another guy reviewed my KS-156 forms and sent me in, inside I had my papers and bag screened (I was sent out to throw away my hair brush) Then we were sent to inside the consulate with a # on a paper, (similar to bank ones) to anothe inner Waiting room, huge place with many seats and lots of people staring at the screens with numbers and window numbers, I waited maybe 1 hour for the first time for my # to appear, went to the window and had a lady checking my papers and forms, no evidence at this point, took the pics, glued them on the forms and I signed all paperwork. Was sent back wait, was called another time to check my payments, all good. I had entered the Consulate around 7 40 am. I was called to interview around 10 20 am. American young nice looking lady was the Officer, she asked me my name, to swear I was telling the truth and started asking questions: Who is your petitioner? Who is to come with you to the US? When do you met him? Have you been to the US before, and when? Asked for pics of my relationship to my fiancé
I had already declared I was in the US overstaying a I-194 in my paperwork so I just confirmed dates, she came back and forth maybe three times, came back with a blue paper (the dreaded blue form) and told me she was denying my visa but that I was allowed to submit a I-601 waiver through mail or appointment, was given the instructions and I left. My journey with the waiver now starts but that will be another story. I hope this helps, I came to these reviews many times when getting ready for my visa interview. Good luck to you!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
