Comments : We received a letter in November 2013 saying we were being considered for a waiver of the interview for adjustment of status to permanent resident. This letter also indicated that processing was going to take six more months from the date of the letter due to "circumstances unrelated to your case." However, on January 25, 2014 we received an online update saying that our AOS was approved (without an interview!) and we received the green card in the mail a week later.

POE Review: Atlanta
Event Description
Entry Date : 2013-05-14
Embassy Review : My husband (then fiancé) was held for over two hours by immigration authorities at the Atlanta airport on May 14, 2013 upon his arrival in the United States. They asked him the same questions over and over, different people asked him the same questions over and over, and they even told him he was lying to them. Of course he wasn't! Why in the world would he lie?! We had "practiced" with a bunch of questions that he could potentially be asked, so he easily answered every question that they had. He speaks English just fine, so it wasn't a matter of misunderstanding. He was very hungry and thirsty and couldn't leave to get anything to eat or drink. He was not smiling or acting happy, and the officers even dared to ask him why he was so serious. He told them that he was tired, and hungry, and thirsty, and he had answered all of their questions correctly many times over and he needed to get to his next flight so he could finally come home to me after over three years being separated. His direct response finally made the officers act, and they let him pass through. It was just a humiliating experience for him, and I hope he never has to go through anything like that ever again.
Harassment Level : High

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
