Event Description

Embassy Review : In the entire process of filing once our I-130 was accepted, the U.S. embassy operated faster than we were expecting. We were completely caught off guard when we had all of our documentation except for the PCC. We filed on April 11th, 2011 and had an interview date by June 1st, 2011. I am not sure what is the record filing time for a DCF, but I wish we would have got the PCC sooner so we could have tried to beat it! We didn't use a lawyer. The forms were straight forward and we had all the documentation for the DCF. Visa Journey was extremely helpful every step of the way. Like most other people who file via DCF, we had more documentation than was needed by the embassy. It's better to have more than not enough! Once we received Packet 3, we went back to the embassy together to turn it in by hand.

It is extremely busy inside the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. There was a wonderful Indian lady who helped us gather all of the documentation required to submit Packet 3 (without mailing it, we're too impatient). We can't remember her name, but she is awesome!!!

The medical exam was easy and the interview was easy as well. The PCC wasn't granted until two weeks after the interview, but the visa was picked up from the VFS office two days after submitting the PCC and passport.

Here are the three interview questions:

What is your name?
When were you married?
How did you meet?

One thing that may have helped our case is that we had sworn affidavits with our documentation from my husband's parents and my relatives who attended our wedding. My husband's parents are retired scientists from the Department of Energy with top secret clearances. I don't know if this helped our case, but we were extremely pleased with how fast the embassy responded to mailing our packets and e-mail inquiries. The only snag in our process was not getting the PCC earlier.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
